Let's be upfront: Asshield™ doesn't have a Louisville office. We're an independent agency in Lexington, about 75 miles east on I-64, and we help Louisville and Jefferson County drivers by phone, text, email and e-signature. What you get is a licensed Kentucky agent who compares car insurance from several companies for your household, instead of quoting one. If you'd ever like to meet in person, our office is at 2240 Executive Dr Ste 103, Lexington, KY 40505.

Companies we compare for Louisville drivers
Liberty Mutual, Grange, Progressive, GEICO and Travelers, plus other carriers when they fit. In a county as big as Jefferson, the ZIP code where the car is parked overnight can change a quote a lot from one neighborhood to the next. That's one more reason to see several companies side by side.
I-64, I-65, I-71 and the loops
Most Louisville commutes touch at least one interstate: I-65 past the airport toward Bullitt County, I-64 out through St. Matthews and Middletown, I-71 toward Oldham County, and the I-264 Watterson and I-265 Gene Snyder loops tying them together. Merges at the Kennedy Interchange downtown and the Watterson's short on-ramps are where a lot of crashes happen. For drivers who live on those roads, we look first at:
- Liability limits well above Kentucky's minimum
- Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage
- Collision with a deductible you could pay tomorrow
- Rental reimbursement, so a claim doesn't leave you without a way to work
Crossing into Indiana every day
Thousands of Louisville-area residents work in Jeffersonville, Clarksville or New Albany, or the other way around. Your policy is rated where the car is garaged, so tell us your home address, where you park at work and how many days a week you cross the river. The Lincoln, Kennedy and East End bridges are tolled. Tolling doesn't affect your insurance, but your daily mileage does.
Shift work at UPS Worldport, Ford and the hospitals
Louisville runs around the clock: UPS Worldport near the airport, Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant (Ford's Louisville Assembly Plant is being retooled for an electric truck), and the big hospital systems downtown and in the east end. Night shifts and long commutes don't usually change a rate by themselves, but total miles and where the car sits overnight do. If you park in a surface lot at work every night, comprehensive coverage matters for theft, vandalism and hail.
Students at UofL and Bellarmine
Students at the University of Louisville, Bellarmine and Spalding often keep a car on a parent's policy. Whether that's the best setup depends on where the car is parked during the semester and on each carrier's rules for students. Students renting in Old Louisville or the Highlands should add renters insurance too.
Kentucky rules in plain English
- Kentucky is a choice no-fault state. Policies include personal injury protection (PIP) of $10,000 per person in basic reparation benefits.
- Minimum liability is $25,000 per person / $50,000 per accident for bodily injury and $25,000 for property damage, or a $60,000 single limit. Most drivers choose more.
- Titles and registration go through the Jefferson County Clerk. Driver's licenses are handled at KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Offices (find one at drive.ky.gov).
