A captive agent sells one company’s policy. We work for you: we compare carriers, explain where policies differ, and stay with you for certificates, audits, claims, and renewals.
Commercial markets we work with include Next, Coterie, Thimble, Hiscox, Chubb, Travelers, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford, Progressive, and GEICO, plus excess & surplus lines access through Burns & Wilcox. Availability varies by state, class, and underwriting.
- Coverage first, then price. We point out the exclusions and gaps that matter for your operation.
- Re-shopped at renewal. No starting over when your carrier raises rates.
- Certificates when you need them. Additional insured, waiver of subrogation, primary & non-contributory.
- Personal and business under one roof. Home, auto, and business reviewed together so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Hard-to-place options. New ventures, prior claims, and coastal property through surplus-lines markets.
- Spanish-speaking support available on request.

We shop the market
We take your submission to the carriers that actually want your class of business — and to surplus-lines markets when needed.
- 3

Many of our clients own a business, rent out a property, or drive a work truck. A quick business review can uncover gaps — like a company vehicle on a personal policy or a home-based business with no liability coverage. Request a business review and mention you’re a current client.

Commercial insurance questions
What types of commercial insurance does Asshield offer?
We help with business owners policies (BOP), general liability, commercial property, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, professional liability (E&O), cyber, commercial umbrella, tools & equipment (inland marine), and hard-to-place risks through excess & surplus lines markets. Availability varies by state and class of business.
Which states do you write commercial insurance in?
We write commercial insurance in all 12 states where Asshield is licensed: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, with offices in Fort Walton Beach, FL and Lexington, KY. Specific carriers and programs vary by state and class of business.
Do you write surety bonds, liquor liability, and builders risk?
Yes. We write license and permit bonds, bid, performance, and payment bonds, liquor liability for restaurants, bars, and caterers, and builders risk for construction and renovation projects, alongside your other commercial coverage.
Do you insure trucking companies, roofers, and short-term rentals?
Yes. Trucking (including new authorities, long-haul, and hazmat), roofing contractors, and short-term rentals are all in our appetite. These classes often need specialty or surplus-lines markets, and we have access to both.
What do I need to get a commercial insurance quote?
Basic business details: what you do, years in business, annual revenue, payroll and employee count, vehicles, property values, current carrier and renewal date, and any claims in the last five years. Our commercial quote form walks you through it.
How long does a commercial quote take?
Simple BOP and general liability quotes can come back the same day or next business day. Workers’ comp, fleets, and hard-to-place risks can take longer. Starting 30–60 days before your renewal gives us the most options.
Why use an independent agent for business insurance?
A captive agent can only offer one company. As an independent agency we compare multiple carriers, explain the differences in coverage — not just price — and can re-shop at renewal without you starting over.
Can you issue certificates of insurance?
Yes. Once your policy is bound, we issue certificates of insurance and help with additional insured and waiver of subrogation requests from your clients and landlords.
I already have home or auto insurance with Asshield. Can you handle my business too?
Absolutely. Many of our personal-lines clients own businesses. Keeping everything with one agency makes it easier to spot gaps between personal and business coverage — like a work truck on a personal auto policy.
Can you help if my business was declined or non-renewed?
Yes. In addition to standard carriers, we have surplus-lines wholesale access for new ventures, prior claims, coastal property, and unusual classes.
We cover your assets
Let’s build the right commercial program
Tell us about your business once. We shop multiple carriers, explain the trade-offs in plain English, and handle certificates, audits, and renewals after you bind.
Educational only — not a policy, quote, or coverage guarantee. Coverage, eligibility, and carrier availability vary by state, class of business, and underwriting. Policy language controls. Talk with a licensed Asshield agent about your situation.
