Homes that come with land
Drive out US-62 or the Old Frankfort Pike and you pass horse farms, stone fences and old farmhouses. A lot of Woodford County homes sit on acreage, and that changes the insurance conversation:
- Barns, run-in sheds and fencing. Outbuildings and fences aren't always handled the same way as the house. List them when you ask for a quote.
- Horse properties. Boarding, breeding or giving lessons can create exposures a standard homeowners policy won't address. Equine and farm coverage is its own conversation, and we'll be clear about what we can place.
- Older and historic homes. Farmhouses and older homes in Versailles and Midway can be expensive to repair with matching materials. Share the details so the coverage amount reflects real rebuilding costs.
- Distance from a fire station. Rural homes far from a hydrant or station can limit carrier options, so we ask about it up front.
Versailles and Midway
Versailles
The county seat has newer subdivisions alongside older streets near downtown. Many residents commute to Lexington on US-60 (Versailles Rd), past Blue Grass Airport and Keeneland, or work at the county's distilleries and manufacturers. Auto conversations tend to center on daily commuting and multi-driver households; home conversations range from first homes to farm properties.
Midway
Midway grew up around the railroad that still runs down the middle of Main Street, and it's home to Midway University. It sits right off I-64, so many residents commute to Lexington or Frankfort. Small historic homes, student renters and the shops and restaurants downtown make up most of what we hear about from Midway.
From Versailles or Midway
From Versailles (about 25–30 min): Take US-60 East (Versailles Rd) into Lexington, then New Circle Rd (KY-4) north and east around town to the Winchester Rd (US-60) exit. Head east on Winchester Rd; Executive Drive is on the left.
From Midway (about 20–25 min): Take I-64 East until it joins I-75, stay on I-75 South where I-64 splits off to the east, and take Exit 110 (Winchester Rd). Turn right toward Lexington; Executive Drive is about half a mile on the right.
Times are approximate. Keeneland race meets and airport traffic can slow Versailles Rd.

Common questions
Is there an Asshield office in Versailles?
No. We serve Woodford County from 2240 Executive Dr, Ste 103 in Lexington.
Can you insure a horse farm?
We can have that conversation, but farm and equine operations need a closer look than a regular home. Tell us how the property is used and we'll explain the realistic options.
What about flood?
Some land along the Kentucky River on the county's western edge and along local creeks is in mapped flood zones. Standard home policies generally exclude flood. Check your address on the FEMA flood map and ask us about separate flood options.
